Silverfast Unsharp Masking Here is the image using Silverfast's Unsharp Masking. It looks good, but the picture could use heavier sharpening, which isn't possible without getting "salt & pepper" artifacts. Here's how I made this scan: 1. After zooming into the frame, I opened up the Unsharp Masking dialog, did a Prescan, and made the following settings:
I've found that the Light and Dark Contour need to be set below 10% or you get nasty black and white specks in the image, or I end up with horizontal lines across the image. Conclusion: Silverfast's own sharpening
works fairly well, but it's difficult to see much in the preview window,
and it's rather slow in that it takes the scanner a while to do the pre-scan.
Also, unlike some of the more advanced methods I tried, you can only do
global sharpening on the whole image. |
